DISCOVERY CHANNEL releases new promo for SHARK WEEK – IT’S A BAD WEEK TO BE A SEAL!

First off, I love the concept.  I like the marketing strategy behind it and although it’s a little messed up, thousands of these seals don’t make it during the breach period off the coast of South Africa.  With that said, it looks like the shark footage was a roto of previous shark week footage.  The handy-cam and chaotic acting definitely sells the spot.  What do you think?

DISNEY PIXAR NEW “BLUE UMBRELLA” SHORT!!!

So I went to see MONSTERS UNIVERSITY this weekend, and was excited to see PIXAR’S new short like they have before every new movie.  They called it BLUE UMBRELLA.  The style was quite different from their usual look, taking a much more photo realistic approach.  At some points I couldn’t tell if it was real footage composited with the 3D characters.  The music (by Sarah Jaffe) and the story worked perfectly, and it looked absolutely gorgeous.  Check out the trailer below!

TENDRIL created STYLE FRAMES NEW YORK conference open!

From what I have seen from TENDRIL, this open for STYLE FRAMES is way out of the box from their usual.  It seems like they were able to just be flat out creative on this one, with little restrictions.  I first saw this the morning of the STYLE FRAMES conference before the first speaker of the day, and certainly blew me away.  Check it out below, along with some awesome concept art!

STYLE FRAMES NEW YORK CONFERENCE

Sorry for the lack of activity, I was traveling to NYC for the STYLE FRAMES conference during the blizzard “NEMO”.  I made it though, and was able to see some amazing work, and meet/listen to incredibly talented people around the industry.  The concept behind the conference was to “jump-start an overdue conversation, presenting us with a real opportunity to examine, debate and find inspiration in the challenges and opportunities of the creative pitch process.”  Companies such as SUPERFAD, PSYOP, FRAMESTORE, IMAGINARY FORCES, THE MILL and many more incredible studios shared their thoughts behind the pitch, their positive experiences as well as many failures.  When I get some more time I will try and write more in depth about the conference. VIEWPOINT CREATIVE makes new SHOWTIME 60 MINUTES SPORTS PROMO

VIEWPOINT CREATIVE shares the new promo for the SHOWTIME and 60 MINUTES merger!  I personally worked on this job, creating the animation, modeling and some of the compositing.  It was a challenge for us to break open that iconic 60 Minutes clock, and make it interesting inside but keeping that Showtime feel.  Check it out below!
